Hello Beautiful and welcome again to Spaulding Lane. I explained in my official welcome post a little about myself and why I decided to start Spaulding Lane. In this post, I want to go into a little more detail about why I started Spaulding Lane and my vision for Spaulding Lane.
A Little Recap & Backstory
I feel like at some point in my 30’s I became confident in who I was and what I wanted for my life. However, nothing prepared me for the fact that seasons of life can bring major changes. That right about mid-life you can start to get an uneasy feeling about your life and your identity.
A few years ago, I found myself in a season of life that felt unfamiliar. As a mother of three adult children and an empty nester, I realized my life was shifting. My routines, style, home—all the things that used to feel like “me” no longer did. It was as if I’d outgrown the life I’d built, yet I didn’t quite know where to start again.
You see so much of my identity was wrapped in being a wife and a mother. I dedicated my life to my family so when our family dynamic started to change, I was unprepared for how that would make me feel.
At first, my feelings were overwhelming. I wondered what now? After lots of therapy and taking time to nurture myself, I started to feel empowered. I had a strong urge to shake things up, to break out of the mundane. I started trying new things and stepping out of my comfort zone. This brought me to the realization that I needed to redesign my life and reinvent myself. Spaulding Lane was born out of this journey and will be a place where we will explore, rediscover, rebrand, celebrate the process of reinvention, and evolve together.

A Season of Change
Life over 40+ comes with its unique challenges and opportunities. For me, it meant redefining my identity beyond being a wife, mother, entrepreneur, and the roles I had so often prioritized. It also meant asking myself:
- Who am I now?
- What truly brings me joy and purpose?
- Who do I envision myself to be in this season of life?
I sat with these feelings, journaled, and started to figure things out. Now I am at a place where I am ready to make additional changes like practicing more self-care, experimenting with my style, and simplifying my beauty routine.
I realized I had been placed on a journey that I didn’t ask for but this journey was a gift, and it would be a shame to squander it. The time to redesign my life was NOW. There is no better time than the present. The only thing holding me back is myself. It’s time to rebuild a life that feels intentional, joyful, and uniquely my own.
The Vision for Spaulding Lane
Moving through my journey, I kept thinking: I can’t be the only woman feeling this way. There must be others who are also navigating life’s transitions—women who are ready for a fresh start but don’t know where to begin.
That’s why I created Spaulding Lane.
This isn’t just a blog or a collection of tips. It’s a space where women over 40 can find inspiration to create a beautiful life in ways that feel meaningful and manageable. And I know I say women over 40 but my hope is that we more seasoned women can even inspire the younger women in our lives to be confident, bold, and fearless. And for us all to intentionally create a life they don’t need a vacation from.
What Spaulding Lane Stands For
Spaulding is my last name, and Spaulding Lane is my slice of the World Wide Web. I am sure I just dated myself with the last part of that statement. But honey you get the point. Spaulding Lane will be a destination, a safe place where we embrace the opportunity to rediscover ourselves, without the pressure of perfection. It’s about celebrating progress, whether it’s styling an outfit that feels like you or hosting a simple gathering that fills your home with joy.
Here’s what you’ll find here:
- Authenticity: I will share my personal experiences with re-branding my life, developing my personal style, the art of creating a home, and so much more.
- Practical Inspiration: Actionable tips for fashion, beauty, home decorating, entertaining, organizing, and more.
- Encouragement: A reminder that you’re never alone in your journey, and it’s never too late to start again.
Why It Matters to Me
Spaulding Lane is deeply personal to me because it reflects my journey to find confidence and purpose at a time when I felt like I’d lost my footing. It’s about more than just redesigning my space or updating my wardrobe—it’s about creating a life that feels authentic and joyful.
I hope that this space becomes a source of inspiration and encouragement for you, too. Whether you’re looking for practical tips, creative ideas, or simply a reminder that you are valued and deserve the best, I want Spaulding Lane to be a place where you feel seen, supported, and inspired.
A Journey We Can Take Together
Starting over can feel daunting, but it’s also filled with possibilities. That’s what Spaulding Lane is all about—embracing the courage to begin again and finding joy in the process.
