Elevated Autumn: How I Styled My Home for Fall Without Overdoing It

Fall home decor

Fall is one of my favorite seasons for the weather, activities, and the fashion. When it comes to decorating my home for fall, I have never been one to overdo it. I’m not about the over-the-top pumpkins or orange life. So this year, I kept things simple. Think: cozy textures, rich neutrals, soulful accents, and just the right amount of seasonal charm. I call it Elevated Autumn, a home refresh that feels both warm and inviting. Most of the pieces I already owned, but I did purchase a few new pieces. If you’re like me and want to add small touches of fall to your home, this post is for you.

Styled entry table decorated for fall.

I started with my entry because it sets the tone for the rest of the home. It is also the spot that greets my guests first. I mixed in some fall stems with the olive stems that were already in my vase. Next, I swapped out the art in the frames for some printed fall landscapes. Lastly, I added a few other pieces, and this brought just the right amount of seasonal energy.

Tip: Use your entry to create a “moment.” It doesn’t have to scream fall, just whisper it.

The living room is where we relax, so I layered in warmth without crowding the space. I swapped my throw pillow covers for some chocolate colored ones. I added a soft, cozy blanket over the arm of my chair that will be perfect for chilly nights. On the coffee table, I added a few simple fall pieces to complete the look in the room. Again, K.I.S. (keep it simple) is my motto for fall décor. I come alive for Halloween and Christmas.

Tip: Mix textures—linen, velvet, wood, glass—for visual interest that doesn’t feel cluttered.

Fall styled round tray on island.

My kitchen island is one of my favorite spots to create a seasonal moment. Here, I added a round tray and filled a vase with some floral faux stems. I finished things off with some candles, coasters shaped like pumpkins, and a decorative acorn.

My kitchen counter décor already has warmth and texture, so I added a simple pumpkin candle that adds a little visual appeal, and it smells divine.

Tip: Think subtle. You don’t need a “fall” sign to say it’s fall. The textures and tones do the talking.

Some fall candles in hurricanes and a velvet pumpkin complete the fall décor in my home.

There you have it, I kept things simple, soulful, and a little elevated, and it made all the difference. I don’t have bins of fall décor, and that’s fine. I may slowly collect more fall décor, but for now, I am satisfied with just a few intentional touches, some cozy textures, and a little creative styling.
